Garden Route - South Africa
The Garden Route stretches from
Heidelberg in the Western Cape to Tsitsikamma and the Storms River Mouth
in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. It is an area of great natural
beauty, with evergreen forests, lakes and beaches, completed
by the fynbos biome, one of the smallest floral kingdoms in the world.
It is home to two coastal national parks, namely Wilderness National
Park and the Tsitsikamma National park. Knysna is often referred
to as the Jewel of the Garden Route, it is surrounded by the Outeniqua
Mountains, the spectacular Knysna Lagoons with the Knysna heads leading
into the Indian Ocean. Plettenberg Bay is known for its beautiful
beaches, while the Wilderness is surrounded by lakes, beaches and
forests.
